Improving public health actions through better information on equity and social determinants of health and improved tools for evaluating health promotion interventions (2019-2021)

A project of technical assistance to the Ministry of Health was conducted between 2019 and 2021 with the following objectives:

1. Improving the capacity to collect, analyse and communicate data on social determinants of  health (SDH) and equity

Good practices in monitoring and visualising SDH and equity were identified at national and international levels. They were disseminated through an online workshop. The final report and an annex (in English) are available:

2. Improving good practice identification in health promotion interventions as well as their evaluation at the local level

2.1. In order to improve the evaluation of health promotion interventions at the local level, various reference health promotion evaluation frameworks were identified, and an evaluation framework for health promotion programmes in the local environment was drawn up. The evaluation framework was shared on three online workshops with local entities, experts and technical reference staff from different autonomous communities, resulting in modifications that allowed a better adaptation to the Spanish context and the diverse reality of local entities. This joint work resulted in the Evaluation Framework and a workshop report (in English and Spanish):

2.2. Good practices in health promotion interventions at local level in EU countries were identified in three areas: improving the physical and functional environment, intersectorality in healthy lifestyles promotion, and strengthening community participation to address health inequalities.
